Cbd and cancer reddit

Currently, there is only one CBD product that has FDA approval: a prescription medication called Epidiolex, used to treat some rare severe seizure disorders in children. The bottom line is that in order to understand whether CBD is legal where you live, you’ll need to consult your state health department website or professionals in your community.

While CBD can come from marijuana, it can also be derived from hemp. Hemp is a related plant with 0.3% or less of THC. This plant is often used to make fabrics and ropes. As of 2018, Congress made hemp legal in all 50 states, and consequently CBD derived from hemp is also legal. The rules around marijuana-derived CBD, however, are far less clear.

Where should you purchase CBD products?

Testing also shows that many products don’t contain what’s claimed on the label. For example, they may have less CBD than advertised. So, buyer beware.

CBD does not get you high, but the idea that it’s not psychoactive is something of a misconception in his opinion. It does change your consciousness. You may feel mellow, experience less pain, and be more comfortable. In addition, some CBD products do contain small amounts of THC.

Does CBD work?

That said, CBD is thought to be a safe and effective option for certain conditions. Below, we sort through the confusion by answering some of the most common questions about CBD.

To add to this when you combine both the effects are superb for pain, inflammation and nausea

Question: Has anyone here tried (or know someone who has tried) using hemp to help alleviate some of the negatives associated with chemo and/or radiation?

Cbd is wonderful on it's own but it's not as effective as the effects of thc.

Yeah, that’s a good point. I’m not sure if she is required to take a drug test for work. I’d have to ask.

Details: I just found out this morning that a friend has breast cancer and is starting chemo. Normally I would just ask if she’s considered medical THC, but in this case my friend is a former state patrol officer. So before having this conversation I’d like to know if CBD from hemp would help, or if THC is really the secret sauce. I googled, but it’s hard to find a straight answer so I’m interested in personal experience. TIA

Thc is the real secret sauce but does help but they're gonna have to use Broad spectrum products because even the minute amount of thc that is present builds up over time and will cause a failed drug test.

I’m not using it for chemo or radiation. But I had oral cancer, had a partial glossectomy. It was brutal, but wasn’t as bad as some people suffer. I get inflammation on my tongue and below the tongue base in my neck. It causes pain and sometimes burning. Inflammation to the side that had incision/excision caused lot of issues and even had a small hole forming when I was at my 2 year mark. Hemp did an unbelievable job of reducing this damage. I hate to be that guy, but I feel like it is “reversing” damage. Drastic reduction in inflammation, more normal appearance of tissue, decrease in pain. I’m happy with what it is doing. Not here to give false hope. My situation was not terribly bad and my 5 yr survival rate was pretty good. But I do want to say go for it. If anything, reduction in inflammation and pain are a great help. Not counting the possibility of reduced anxiety and depression. And maybe even help with nausea or lack of appetite. She’s going thru chemo and radiation, she deserves to try anything that brings her comfort. I hope she does well and I pray that she can stay comfortable.

Cell culture: cancer cell that grow on a petri disc. "Domesticated" cancer cells are much easier to kill than the ones running in your body. You just have to "unintentionally" forget to change the water for a day and they'll all die. Cancer cured.

Cannabinoids (and THC!) increased lung cancer cell lysis (increased the rate at which lung cancer cells break down) in this study by triggering increased production of ICAM-1 (which naturally increases cancer cell lysis). The paper points to this as proof that cannabinoids have beneficial effects on breaking down lung cancer cells faster.

Weaknesses of the study:

So it works like this. On the surface of every cancer cell has a little ICAM molecule. This molecule is like a docking anchor for killer T cells, white blood cells that kill cancer cells. The cannabinoids tested in this study are cannabindiol, phytocannabinoid Δ9-tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) and R(+)-methanandamide. They increase the amount of ICAM on the cancer cells, allowing more contact with killer cells.

In vitro testing cannot be translated to in vivo results: just because you can kill something laying docile on a disc doesn't mean the drug is effective when use in a live organism. Dosage and concentrations used in this study cannot be translated to clinical practice at the moment.
